I recently worked as VAD on a 2.5D VP plate shoot. Their shoot involved 6 environments, 2 of which were full stock footage plates, the other 4 of which I put together in UE5 as virtual environments. My scenes were pre-rendered for speed and efficiency on-set, thrown in the lineup with the other plates like a car-process shoot, but designed in UE to give the director and client team flexibility to really tailor a bespoke look that would've been nearly impossible to find stock plates for.

I had ~3.5wk to put together 4 environments, using a combined strategy of kitbash, some bespoke modelling and materials, metahuman animation and mocap retargetting, and ACES colour pipeline through Davinci Resolve. Given the budget and timeline, I'm extremely pleased with the results I was able to deliver, and the final effect in-camera.
