I recently had the opportunity to work as the VAD and Volume Op for broadway musical inspired passion project. Big shoutout to the team over at the Be Electric studio up on NYC; working with them is always a pleasure, they're so dialed in to their technology that shoots are always incredibly smooth and efficient.

As the VAD I was tasked with creating six environments for this in just a couple of weeks, mimicking old timey Broadway set design. I ended up doing a mixture of bespoke modelling, taking SVG graphics from the client to make 3D signage, and kitbashing elements to create these environments on a short deadline. We tried to recreate the feeling of Broadway production design, with a mixture of scenic elements, stage lighting, matte painting backdrops, and retro light fixtures. The scenes were designed mostly in colour, with the intention of creating a more natural black and white look when the final LUT was applied to the edit.

The camera and wardrobe team did an amazing job selling it in camera, to give that final classic vibe. So proud of what was put together on such a short timeline and with concurrent projects.
