A little bit of personal experimentation with the new UE5 Early Access. Testing the extent of Lumen for realtime GI in large scale outdoor scenes using a combo of megascans and marketplace assets.
Super impressed so far; Lumen was used for GI and reflections in this scene and just worked without any adjustments required. Performance at 4K was ~40fps while really not thinking about optimisation in scene design. Threw Volumetric clouds, volumetric fog and shadows, and dynamic shadows for all objects at this scene (disabled static lighting entirely).
And the new UI is clean, uncluttered, lets the focus be on the viewport and having the most room to design.
Very excited for UE5 to be production ready.
