Golden Skull

Skull

In honour of the month of October, I thought I'd do some spooky renders. Mainly these were lighting, texturing, and colour grading tests.

The original skull model is a museum scan from 'aellis43' on Sketchfab. It was untextured a little bit messy, so I did some cleanup work on the model in Meshmixer, made a low-poly using Instant Meshes, unwrapped the UV's in Blender, baked down my details in Marmoset Toolbag 3, and then did my texturing in Substance Painter. Lot of round-tripping, but the results speak for themselves.

The renders themselves were done in Blender Cycles, with the fluid sims done using the FLIP Fluids addon. Colour grading and some compositing work was done in Photoshop to finalise the images.
