As the Lead Technical Artist for All of it Now, for this show, I was in charge of the technical and lighting integration of AR elements, handling show playback programming in Unreal, tool building, optimisation, and providing support and technical direction for the client teams in charge of creating the content for their artists.
This involved developing a universal playback system that could be applied to content provided by all the teams with their various control methods. Certain artists were using timecode and needed an automated playback method that would sync to their show live, other artists did not utilize timecode and required their sequences to be manually triggered, and yet other content was heavily physics and gameplay driven and required direct communication to the actors in the scene to control playback. All of these were brought together under a simple unified system, with Stage Precision used as a control surface.
Additional plugins and tools were created to assist from an operational standpoint, including automatically setting up ports for camera tracking data based on machine IDs, creating simple interfaces for doing AR lineups and calibration, and creating scripted actions to automate scene prep.
